NLPL Is Tree-riffic!

On December 6, the library took part in New Lenox's annual tree-lighting festival on the commons.

(Our decorating team, Ms. Jen (with her son, Noah) and Ms. Erin from the YS department, and Alex, our tech wizard, with his wife, Kristen)

Lots of groups in town "adopted" trees to decorate for the holidays. The rules were simple: decorations had to be environmentally friendly and look cool!

The YS staff made some great ornaments that will serve both as festive decor and treats for the birds and squirrels who make their homes on the commons.

We used bagels, rice cakes and bread cookies, iced in peanut butter or marshmallow fluff as the bases for some of our ornaments. Then they got a sprinkling of sugars, fruit snacks, seeds and more to make them colorful and delicious! We also made pipe-cleaner shapes strung with Froot Loops, Milk-Bone ornaments and more. Come and check out our tree, as well as all the other festive firs, on the commons.
